Valerie Silva, President
Valerie has been working in the accounting field for almost 20 years. After graduating from Johnson & Wales in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Valerie continued her education at the University of Phoenix, obtaining her master’s while also working full time as a staff accountant. Her dedication to her education and career has allowed her to excel in managing the financial operations of various industries. Valerie came to Glivinski & Associates in 2016 and managed the operations for 7 years before purchasing the company in January 2024. She brings complex accounting experience through financial statement preparation and has become an expert in non-profit fiscal management and best business practices. Val manages internal and external accounting personnel for several clients, providing financial management, cash flow, and personnel guidance. Her leadership and expertise have been instrumental in the successful financial management of many businesses throughout the Cape, where she was born and raised. Valerie is especially dedicated to helping non-profits achieve their financial goals and sustainability through strategic financial planning and management. Her passion for supporting organizations with a mission-driven focus has made her an asset in the non-profit sector.
Val lives in West Yarmouth with her family and is dedicated to ensuring that Cape Cod businesses are successful for years to come. Her dedication to the community where she was raised is evident in her commitment to providing financial guidance and support to local businesses and organizations.
Amy Johnson, MBA, Sr. CFO Consultant
Amy brings 24 years of experience building, leading, and advising corporations through periods of rapid growth, complex restructurings, and multi-state expansions. As a Corporate Finance and Human Resource Executive she has deep expertise in the development and implementation of business strategies to enhance financial, accounting, and operational human resource systems of an organization. She is a master at managing fiscal and compliance requirements of complex government funded agencies with multiple funding sources and programs; and holds a certificate in Uniform Guidance Training in Government Accounting. She is responsible for program and agency wide budgeting, fiscal management and reporting to federal and state funders, as well as preparation and presentation of monthly board reports and presentation of progress against program budgets. Amy also participates in year-end A133 and GAAP audits for many clients.
Carol Shaw, Senior Staff Accountant
Carol has worked with our team for over 11 years. She manages several of our more complex non-profit clients including several federally funded Community Action Agencies, Habitat for Humanity and Cotuit Center for the Arts. Prior to joining our team, she spent over 10 years in Retail accounting. Her knowledge of budgets, margins, cost accounting, federal reporting and retail accounting is extensive.
Debra Wright, Senior Staff Accountant
Deb joined our team in 2016. As a Senior Staff Accountant with 35 plus years of extensive accounting include management reporting, analysis, budgets, cash flow and cost accounting. Having worked 8 years in public accounting, her tax planning and audit experience is extensive. She is responsible for the accounting for several municipal related clients, as well as board and funder reporting and year-end audit participation. She provides clients with sound financial guidance and is active on many boards.
Ashlie DeMattos, Staff Accountant
Ashlie DeMattos joined Glivinski & Associates in 2013. She received her accounting education from Cape Cod Community College. Ashlie brings eight years of administrative experience, four years of hospitality management, and 11 years of bookkeeping and accounting experience. She manages accounts for several for-profit and non-profit clients. She values the relationships she builds with her clients while working to fulfill their financial needs, including monthly financial reports, budget preparation, cash flow forecasts, and financial guidance. Ashlie enjoys volunteering with our non-profit clients across the Cape, is treasurer of the Cape Cod Gymnastics Competitive Team Support Group, and recently joined the Events Committee for CCYP.
Emily Norwood-Rubino, Bookkeeper
Emily Norwood-Rubino is a Bookkeeper at Glivinski & Asociates with 5 years of experience in accounting and bookkeeping. A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Emily moved to the Cape in 2012. After graduating from Cape Cod Community College, she studied at the Charlton College of Business at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She graduated at the top her class in 2019, having earned the prestigious Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) scholarship in recognition of her scholastic achievements.
Emily is passionate about her work with the Cape Cod community, being herself a resident of Cotuit. On the weekends, she enjoys catching performances at the Cotuit Center for the Arts, rooting for the Kettleers in the Cape Cod Baseball League and participating in the Cape Cod Challenger’s Club spring activities with her brother, Jonathan.
